Matt Schmitt - Executive Director & Co-Founder
Matt will oversee all decisions and actions made by the volunteer team and Derek. Matt will be the only one to approve the termination of volunteer duty. Matt will be the only one to allow changes to the organization. Matt will monitor all volunteers and performance with Derek.
Derek Stefura - Director of Operations
Derek will pass down information from Matt to volunteers. Derek will deal with all internal disputes and take all disputes to Matt for approval/and or discussion of termination. Derek will book/schedule all events and get approval from Matt regarding these events. Derek will assign tasks to all volunteers. Derek will follow up will the volunteer team. Derek will ensure the volunteer team has all the tools that they need to run smoothly and effectively. Derek will report all the information to Matt. Derek will be allowed to make major decisions in emergency situations or if Matt is unable to. Derek will assess Youth Speak Edmonton's performance and regularly have meetings to discuss improvements for Youth Speak Edmonton. Derek will deal with all public complaints and concerns. Derek is considered in addition to Director of Operations a Volunteer Manager. This means everything regarding volunteers will go through Derek for approval. Final approval may/or may not be made by Matt.
1x Project Manager (ages 16+)
This role is open. Youth Speak Edmonton is looking for someone who can effectively manage our current projects, make changes to current projects, create new projects, etc. This role includes working with youth effectively to make them confident and competent to present all projects. All volunteers will go through a two step interview process. The first interview will be with the Volunteer Coordinator. The second with the Director of Operations. The Director of Operations will then make the ultimate decision if the volunteer fits our requirements. All volunteers must have approval by Director of Operations with final approval with President. After approval , all volunteers will be trained by Matt for their required position.
1x Media Manager (ages 16+)
This role is open. Youth Speak Edmonton is looking for somebody who is able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner. The volunteer will train under Matt and Derek until they are able to take on this role. This position will look after finding places to advertise, bringing a budget forward for advertising, talking to media and being able to effectively talk to media and give facts about Youth Speak Edmonton, take calls with questions about Youth Speak Edmonton and posting to Youth Speak Edmonton’s social media accounts weekly. Volunteer must feel comfortable posting to several social media sites including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat professionally. This position will also include editing information on Youth Speak Edmonton’s website and keeping the website updated. Being in this position you need to be willing to learn about the organization and be able to answer questions about Youth Speak Edmonton. When there is a media relation incident, Derek and/or needs to approve and be present while media is doing interviews or is on site. All volunteers will go through a two step interview process. The first interview will be with the Volunteer Coordinator. The second with the Director of Operations. The Director of Operations will then make the ultimate decision if the volunteer fits our requirements. All volunteers must have approval by Director of Operations with final approval with President. After approval , all volunteers will be trained by Matt for their required position.
1x Volunteer Coordinator (ages 16 +)
This role is open. Youth Speak Edmonton is looking for somebody who can effectively recruit and interview potential volunteers. With this position you will be responsible for filling out interview forms, security checks, Youth Speak Edmonton ID’s, determine whether or not the volunteer would be a good fit for the duties and pass this information on to Derek for approval by Matt. All volunteers will go through a two step interview process. The first interview will be with the Volunteer Coordinator. The second with the Director of Operations. The Director of Operations will then make the ultimate decision if the volunteer fits our requirements. All volunteers must have approval by Director of Operations with final approval with President. After approval , all volunteers will be trained by Matt for their required position.
1x Sponsorship Manager (ages 16+)
This role is open. Youth Speak Edmonton is looking for someone who can effectively seek out companies, organizations, etc. for eligible grant opportunities and/or donations. They are willing to be confident and competent at this task with professionalism. This person will need to be able to fill out all paperwork effectively for the grants. All grants/donations need to be approved by Derek and Matt who has signing authority. All volunteers will go through a two step interview process. The first interview will be with the Volunteer Coordinator. The second with the Director of Operations. The Director of Operations will then make the ultimate decision if the volunteer fits our requirements. All volunteers must have approval by Director of Operations with final approval with President. After approval , all volunteers will be trained by Matt for their required position.
1x Treasurer - Ruth Riome
Ruth takes care of all financial aspects of Youth Speak Edmonton on approval by Derek and Matt. Ruth deals with taxes, accounts receivable, etc.
7x Youth Outreach Mentors (ages 14-20)
This role is open. Youth Speak Edmonton is looking for someone who can effectively present presentations to schools, organizations, businesses, etc. provided by Youth Speak Edmonton. Youth Outreach Workers should be educated about Youth Speak Edmonton and fill out any reports to Derek. All Outreach Volunteers will be trained on Crisis Intervention and Prevention as well as Suicide Intervention. All volunteers will go through a two step interview process. The first interview will be with the Volunteer Coordinator. The second with the Director of Operations. The Director of Operations will then make the ultimate decision if the volunteer fits our requirements. All volunteers must have approval by Director of Operations with final approval with President. After approval , all volunteers will be trained by Matt for their required position.
5x Board Members
This will consist of 5 existing volunteers. Positions will be appointed at the Annual General Meeting by vote.
