Your Voice Matters Project

WE WANT TODAYS YOUTH TO BE HEARD.
The Youth Speak Edmonton Team has created a program for ages 12-18. This is a presentation put on for youth by youth. The co-founders of Youth Speak Edmonton will request approximately 90 minutes to cover all the topics below. This presentation will cover the main problems that today's youth have been facing. In the program we will have videos, interactive activities (with prizes), statistics and an art section depending on the size of the group. We will present to any size of audiences, from CALM/health classes, youth groups to the whole school. All we ask for is that you spread the word of Youth Speak Edmonton and give us a month in advance notice. ​
Also, we encourage youth to come chat with us after the presentation and pick up some resources that we supply. Youth Speak Edmonton understands that we might not be for everyone; therefore we provide information for other organizations.
WHAT'S THE COST FOR YOU?
Youth Speak Edmonton is a non-profit organization. We work off of grants from organizations, donations from individuals and organizations and charging for the program that we deliver to youth. The prices will very from group to group depending on the size, time, amount of youth, and the distance from 'head office.' If the cost is an issue we will 100% be able to come up with a solution (i.e. payment plans, trades, etc.). We believe that everybody's voice matters and we won't let anything get in the way of that.
OUR AIM TOWARDS YOUTH.
We do this for the youth. No one should ever feel alone. The Your Voice Matters project is a collective consciousness – Youth Speak Edmonton has created programming to bring out into the community and through the power of conversations, we are showing young people in this city that they deserve the opportunity to speak out. Run by youth for youth, we believe our voices are infinite. We believe that what we say matters and that we have the strength within ourselves to be open and honest in our stories. We are more than a peer-to-peer support group – we are a movement. All of us together make up Youth Speak Edmonton and so we will reach out and speak up. We will stand up in front of you and let you know who we are. We encourage you to do the same. We encourage you to take these next few steps with us; young people deserve a voice.

Youth Speak Edmonton hopes to branch the Your Voice Matters project out into community and form partnerships with other organizations in our city. We go more in depth with some of the issues that we cover in our programming and we hope to allow young people to grow together, sharing stories and creating positive relationships over time. We also provide snacks and art supplies for the youth. The art projects and activities following our discussions allow young people to compile their creative energy together, and work on a common positive goal. Creativity allows us to learn about ourselves, as well as our peers and share stories through a different medium.
We believe that community partnerships are incredibly important and we want to reach out to as many youth as we can. After all, every youth has a voice, and all these voices matter! Youth Speak Edmonton believes that our programming is more than one morning or afternoon, but rather the conversations created in our groups can be continued and expanded upon over time and throughout our lives.
